Reasons to plan a funeral ahead of time

On Behalf of | Jul 22, 2022 | estate planning | 0 comments

Thinking about anything related to death and dying is never enjoyable, whether it is to do with one’s own passing or that of a close friend or family member. However, it is an inevitable process that most people will go through at one point or another.

While families may not always be able to preplan a burial due to unforeseen circumstances, there are several benefits to planning a funeral ahead of time in Ohio.

To make sure the deceased approves

When loved ones preplan a funeral, the person for who the funeral is for can approve of the arrangements. This may be important to their peace of mind, particularly in their older years.

To take the burden off loved ones

Unless the family makes arrangements ahead of time, they will need to plan the funeral very soon after their loved one passes away. This is another burden during an already stressful and sad time. Preplanning takes away some of this weight from the rest of the family.

It may be less expensive

Like most goods and services, the cost of funerals typically rises each year. By planning ahead, some establishments may charge families less than they would at the time of the loved one’s passing. Depending on how long after the preplanned arrangements the person passes away, the savings may be quite significant.

Planning a funeral is difficult regardless of when it happens. However, some of the benefits of planning ahead of time can ease the associated stress that comes with making funeral arrangements.
